The hardest thing we can do is put the past behind us and move forward, because we’ve already lived it and felt those emotions. So old pictures and accompanied feelings so easily pop into the mind and it is harder to think new thoughts, draw new pictures and feel it as if we have already lived it.
But you are the inventor, the creator, and the only way to create a better, brighter, successful more prosperous future than your past, is to change the pictures in your head, change the stale old repeating story in the mind that holds you back. Yet past memories can serve us too, such as if we had a car once and don’t have one now, but would like a new one we can draw on those old memories of driving our car, we can feel the wheel, smell the leather and see the road ahead. If you want a better home just remember what it was like in a luxury home you once visited, so dream and wallow in that good feeling. Even if it was a nice hotel on holiday being waited on, dream that into your reality. So as I said, the hardest thing we can do is put our unwanted past behind us and move forward, because the mind keeps taking us back there, our past becomes a habit, so to stop the past becoming your future you must learn to leave it behind. Use affirmations, train your thoughts to change old habits, and meditate to quiet the mind.

The mind does not know the difference between our daily reality and the visions in the mind. When we sleep our dreams are also just a thought in the mind, we aren’t living it in reality, yet if we fall off a bridge as we drift off, we jump to save ourselves it feels so real, in deeper sleep when some thing is chasing us we feel the fear and can wake up in a sweat, with heart beating faster, so it seems very real as our thoughts affect the body. And throughout our waking hours, every day our thoughts affect the body, yet the same as night time none of it is real, just thought and perception. Just think of something in our past, we can feel angry about it or happy or sad.
If we are told a lie, we can believe it and react, investing all our emotions in that lie, yet the lie was never a reality. And as we react to everything in our environment every day we focus on so much that isn’t real, or that is unimportant, get caught up in fantasy and waste so much time ignoring our dreams. Spending so little time focusing on the good stuff, dragging our worries, fear and concern into our night time sleep as the universe believes every thought and vision we pour feeling into and thinks that is our reality, and whats worse, acts upon it! Because whatever you think of, feel and believe is the very thing you are asking the universe for. So it is the feelings, emotion, energy, vibration and frequency our thoughts and visions create that determine the outcome of our dreams or nightmares. So we have to leave past thoughts behind to create the future we desire.
