When bad things happen it often turns out for a good reason, such as my old gas meter broke so the gas board tried to force me into having a smart meter, which takes 2 hours to fit when they could fix my old meter with a card in 2 minutes. So I said just fix my old meter, they messed around for almost 2 weeks where I had no heating or hot water, hoping I would give in and let them fit smart meters for both my gas and electric. I refused, so in that time they sent an engineer who said he doesn’t have the card to fix it so if I won’t have a smart meter I will have to phone the gas board again and ask for an engineer they can send out with the repair card. So I did.
But this meter man phoned me before he called the next day, so I asked if he had a card, and he said no, I will have to have a smart meter fitted. So I told him I don’t want one, and if he hasn’t got a card then don’t bother coming round here. He said I have no choice as they don’t renew the old meters, so I have to have a smart meter fitted. I informed him I do have a choice, I can freeze and go without hot water. He answered, no you can’t!
But I can, I’m no softie, I have gone 2 winters without heating or hot water in past struggles, so their words were of no threat to me, and I put the phone down. Then he turned up anyway asking why I was so against smart meters, I said I had never really heard one good thing about them.
So he said I would have to phone up again and ask for an engineer with a card, so I did, and complained about being ignored. I wasn’t angry, I was just going through the motions, playing along with their daft little game, knowing I would win in the end. But I did wonder why the universe was messing me about, with many things suddenly going wrong in my home.

And a few days later I had to phone again as they said they would send someone that night and nobody came. Then the same man turned up, still with no card, and said, if we fix it with a card it will only break again and you don’t want to be messing about like this waiting for us in winter time.
I said that’s ok, we will see, but if it breaks again I will have a smart meter fitted. He said I have one in my car, I can fit it now if you like, to save you waiting for another engineer to come out. I said that’s ok, I’ll wait. I just knew they were trying to wear me down, make me so fed up with it. And it was 9pm, they always called that late to ensure I was too tired to resist.
But if they thought I was going to let them take 2 hours fitting smart meters till 11pm, when they could have fixed it with a card in 2 minutes they were living in fantasy land. Again I refused, so it was him who finally gave in and said ok, I will text my manager and friend who has a card, and get him to call tomorrow and fix your old meter. I spent just 2 days having to wear a warm jumper as it’s late summer, and his friend called the next day and fixed it in 2 minutes. So all those phone calls, delays, harassment, and messing about for something so simple. They sent me Β£40 for delays.

So as I had Β£50 on the meter when it broke, I don’t need to pay for any gas this month, and I didn’t pay for any last month, as we had a heat wave so I didn’t need the heating on. It was broke for 6 weeks, as I tried to get my land lord to fix my boiler, but it was a faulty meter. But a bonus for a little inconvenience. And here is a story of someone else having a hard time…
Years ago, after losing my father, going through a divorce and ending up in a terrible financial situation, practically the only thing I had left was an old car π with a dying clutch, a handbrake that came off in your hand and tyres smoother than paperπ. One day I sat outside looking at it, completely defeated, and thought: βSeriously, what else could possibly happen to me?βπ« Apparently, the universe heard me. π At that exact moment, a utility truck π» driver, distracted on his phone, hit my car and dragged it down the road almost towards a ravine. I just stood thereβ¦ then started laughing uncontrollably π€£π€£π€£. The poor man thought I was having a breakdown and eventually started laughing with meπ π€·.
I even invited him inside for coffee while we waited to sort everything out. βοΈπ«ππ₯Ή And guess what? Insurance eventually paid enough that I practically got another car. That day taught me something; sometimes what looks like the final disaster is actually making room for something better. So donβt give up. And NEVER ask the universe, βWhat else could possibly happen?β Apparently, it takes that as a challenge. πβ€οΈ

When we hit rock bottom the only way is up, when we lose something we gain something else. When things go wrong, something turns out right. Losing your job often means a better one is on the way, if your home is falling apart as mine is right now, there is usually a better one in transit.
Or the money and help should appear, to repair your old home as the universe is eternally attuned to your wants, needs, dreams and wishes. And my landlords, engineers, money councillors and repair men have all suddenly turned up to fix everything for me. Plus money is flowing to me.
Bit by bit a continual flow to keep me going, a lottery or scratch card win, a mistake when a shop keeper forgets to charge me for everything I just put on the counter. A friend unexpectedly taking me food shopping, payments offered for disrepairs in my home and my bills being halved by the companies I couldn’t afford to pay. Extra benefits and a large Β£3,000 bill may be scrapped just because I’m visualising help and extra funds.

We can struggle for years then the universe pulls it all out of the bag, as it can send a million different ways to make money materialise in our lives. Never give up, keep on believing till your dreams lead to bigger and better
